The Common Broom (Cytisus scoparius) is an interesting native shrub growing to approximately 7ft (2m) and best recognised for it's yellow flowers from May-June. Full sun is required for it to flourish, and Broom does best in poor sandy soil.

In a garden situation it will require pruning every year as new shoots will not grow from the old wood. A common sight on golf courses and particularly suitable for seaside and coastal areas.

The current height of the plants is approximately 15-30cm and they can be planted out all year round.
