Small Leaved Lime Trees - Tilia cordata

The Small-Leaved Lime (Tilia cordata) tree is native to limestone areas and chalky soils in England and Wales. The fragrant flowers attract bees in early July.

Leaves are alternate and 1-3in long they are dark green and shiny on top with orange tufts of hair in vein junctions on the undersides. The stalk is not hairy. The timber is ideal for carving and turning. It is still used for sounding boards and keys of pianos and organs.

The current height of the trees is approximately 20-40cm and they can be planted out all year round.
