Beech Hedging - Fagus sylvatica

The Beech tree (Fagus sylvatica) is a very attractive and classical year round tree as well as a fine native hedging plant which it is commonly used for. When used for hedging, beautiful orange leaves from the autumn cling on tight all the way through to spring so offers fairly permanent screening and privacy.

In mythology the Beech is known as the "tree of wishes" At maturity they can reach up to 40m and are the most magnificent of trees. Both beech trees and beech hedging benefit from plenty of rain or watering until established.

For a single row Beech hedge we would recommend to plant at a rate of 4 trees per metre. For a staggered double row (zig zag) Beech hedge plant at a rate of 6 trees per metre.

The current height of our Beech trees is approximately 30-50 cm and they can be planted out all year round.
