The Common Osier (Salix viminalis) willow tree is an attractive quick growing willow used to create a fast establishing screen or hedge and is often used to assist in noise reduction. Our Common Osier willows can grow very fast up to 4-6ft per year and can be cut back or coppiced as desired. Left alone these willows can grow up to 6m.
The Common Osier is widely used as a carbon neutral sustainable fuel supply for wood burning stoves and biomass boilers. It flourishes well in wet areas - and makes the perfect choice of tree for draining wet ground. It is also recommended as a natural screen. Common Osier twigs are widely used for basketry and other cane work.
The current height of our Common Osier trees is approximately 30-50cm and they can be planted out all year round.
