Wild Service Tree - Sorbus torminalis

£12.95

Sorbus torminalis - Wild Service Tree is possibly one of the rarest native species growing in the UK and is often associated with very ancient woodlands. Wild Service makes a good hedgerow tree.

The Wild Service is a medium sized deciduous tree that is often mistaken for a maple due to its leaf shape and interesting autumn colour which turns bright red and copper. Clusters of white spring flowers which once pollinated create small brown fruits that are loved by birds.

The Wild Service is sometimes called the ’Chequer Tree’ probably due to the chequered pattern on the bark. The current height is 30-50cm and can be planted out all year round.

  • Native to UK
  • Medium size tree
  • Hedging plant
  • Spring flowers

Well packaged.

Good experience. A nice little sapling with good roots, well packaged and moist on arrival. I decided it was too small to plant out so potted it up to grow on for a couple of years.

Lovely looking young saplings

Ordering online was quick, and postage arrived soon after. The trees looked nice and healthy we just have to see how they get on over the next few years. Thank you Trees by Post
